1920-30’s bass drum

I was wondering if anyone had any information on this drum. It was gifted to me by a friend of a friend. Thanks!

I have a similar bass drum made by Ludwig and Ludwig and it has their stamp branded on the inside of the drum. The diameter of my drum is 25 and a half inches if I remember correctly. I believe the depth is 12 inches. These drums were made before drum head sizes were standardized and you can get replacement calf heads from Matt Auling of Connecticut Pro Percussion. It will make a nice sounding drum and worth the trouble to fix it up. I am not sure of the date but think it is early to mid 1920's. Good luck, Joe

Hey Nicholas; Looks like a 1930's & deff pre WWII. Back in the late 20's & 30's, from what I've read & had conversations with drummers of very good knowledge, I believe this drum was made before standard sizes were put into place. It may be pretty hard to get a drum head to fit the 25" diameter but I'm sure through eBay & other vintage sites you might get luck. Try Steve Maxwell over at the Vintage & Custom Drum Shop in Chicago, if anyone would know anything about this drum I'm sure he would. Good luck, stay safe & healthy. Tony T from New York..
