Greetings, Michael Welch here. I recently complete my 2 self published books “Notes from an OLD drummer” and “Quadragrip”
Notes is over 500 pages. Though this book is about my journey, it’s really about the business of music and being a musician. Born in 1949, I became a professional drummer/musician in 1967.
I share my stories which thousands of boomers my age will immediately relate to.
As a musician my collaborations were/are very eclectic. Rock n Roll, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Avant Garde.
For many years I was a theme park staff music at Walt Disney World - Epcot. From there I became a music industry representative for several product companies including Gretsch, Rickenbacker, Furman and more.
I was affiliated in the American Federation of Musicians as an executive administrator.
All of my day gigs funded my creative music recording projects.
I’ve authored several books for early learners including Young Mozart Music Station and Boom Boom the Bass Drum.
I authored The Tommy Thomas Percussion Library. I’ll be reposting that on NSMD.
In 1980 I began my experiments with 4 sticks on drumset. In 2026 I authored this Quadragrip book edition. I’ve been playing drums for several decades.
I’m very happy with the paperback editions of Notes and Quadragrip. I’ll be list my Quadragrip book on NSMD.
You may find Notes to be an interesting read. My goal is not to be self indulgent. My stories and experiences may be educational to many.
In 2013 I published ‘Notes of a Young Drummer 1966-1969. I never thought I would write about my journey beyond 1969. Those years as a young drummer 1966-1969 are my favorite experiences.
Those stories were updated in my current Notes book.
From experience I know my little book has a very limited audience. Old drummers like me that visit NSMD may have time on their hands and add this to their drum library. If so , thank you. Best regards, Michael Welch
