My dad was a drummer and a hoarder. I have a LOT of instruments, including a metallic blue Slingerland set that he played a lot. It's dusty but I don't know anything about drums so can't assess the condition (they look like at least some could use new heads). I have a friend with a kid who is starting out, and I'd be happy to sell them the set to refurbish for him, but first I wanted to check if 1) it looked impossible to refurbish or 2) it was anything special, as they won't be able to pay much, and who knows if the kid will continue to drum. Besides the set there are 3 cymbals on stands (one is a high hat), 2 sets of bongos, tambourines, maybe 20 cymbals not mounted, a box of hardware, etc. A local high school music teacher is taking the roto toms and one djembe. I live 5 hrs away so not easy for me to look for serial numbers etc until my next visit in mid Nov. Grateful for any info you can provide.

30 days agoThanks. How do I find someone I can trust? The swirly greenish flame tom is a Camco, but the finish looks like it's got some problems. I'll post pictures.

30 days agoLisa, if you'd like I should be able to give you an idea of what certain pieces are worth. it would be easier if you email me direct with the pictures. We can start with picture of the drums and cymbals .If the information is not in the pics then I can tell you what to look for. my direct email is ting.tinpoti@comcast.net

30 days agoHi Lisa,
Cool drums and your dad had a lot of great items there. The cymbals that are not clearly marked might still be Zildjian. To know for sure you have to find the stamp the factory put in the metal. Can be difficult to find sometimes depending on age and condition of the cymbal but you can use a flashlight and usually locate the stamp.
I agree with Ting on keeping these away from kids. Not sure where you are located exactly but there are a few good drum shops in the Hartford area that might be interested in just buying the lot and picking everything up. That would save you the time and effort from shipping, meeting buyers and selling pieces individually.
Let us know if we can be of further assistance and best of luck with everything.

She doesn't necessarily have to sell pieces individually or ship items. There are reputable auction houses that will gladly sell her drums, she just needs to find out exactly what she has and find out what goes with what and what should be sold separately. They will even come to her house to pick the drums up.
