Vinnie Colaiuta’s Heuer/Craviotto 5x14 Red Oak Snare

Vinnie Colaiuta’s 5x14 snare made by Chris Heuer out of a Solid/Select (Pre-Craviotto) shell. This snare is a piece of drum history and a unicorn for many reasons.

Made for Vinnie when he was in between Gretsch and Ludwig, this went along with the full kit Master Builder Chris Heuer made for an upcoming tour. The shell is red oak which is rare among the Solid/Select Shells.

It is on the cover of DRUM! Magazine with Vinnie and was used on tour with Sting and Paul Simon. There are videos of him using this very snare online.

The small amount of wear and tear on the shell and hoops are from use on that tour. The drum has not left my studio since I acquired it 5 years ago.

One of one, several levels of history, made and played by the best.
