Yes, this genius actually used the name Stephen Colbert. He sent the same type scam emails to multiple sellers. His account has been disabled. He gets the award for dumbest con artist on the internet for using the name of the most popular American talk show host. Here is the content of his scam letter:

I'm willing to add extra $50 to your last asking price.

My accountant will send a check to cover the cost of the item and the cost of the shipping, please provide me with your

  1. Name to be on the check

  4. Final price

So that she can prepare the payment check immediately and the final price. Please make sure you delete the ad, the pick up will be made after the check has been fully cleared by your bank.

I will be waiting to hear from you. Thanks"

Sellers: You cannot accept checks or money orders for sales on DrumSellers, only paypal. Do not list or give out your home address. Do not list or give out your phone number. The reason for doing all communication with buyers through the DrumSellers internal message system is for your protection from these kind of predators. If you want to sell for checks and have people come to your house you can use Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Telltale sign of a scammer: bad English, bad grammar and punctuation, long story, third party paying, moving company coming, blah blah blah.

LOL, yes, checks all the boxes and let's not forget the religion angle and the bad health angle.

There must be some dark web college scammer degree these folks get.

I think this person is a first semester freshman.

Thanks George

Classic scammer. Notice the grammatical errors

And phrasing. This is a typical Craigs list type of scam. Good Call on spotting this out

So funny, every time I list a drum, not just here but all other sites I get this same message almost immediately and have learned that if I see the phrase "pickup it" instead of "pick it up" I know it is a scam. I think there must be a room full of clowns monitoring the internet for new postings and they just fish and fish hoping to land someone. The only drumstick they ever picked up was with a 3 piece at KFC.
