This extremely rare drum is in excellent condition, especially considering that it is 95 years old! I have only seen two eight lug models of this drum. This is from my personal collection. I've owned it for ten years and it's time to pass it on to someone else who will use it and cherish it. I've used it on a small number of gigs and recording sessions but it's sitting on a shelf now and my policy is to not keep any drum I'm not using anymore. Many professional drummers who played on it have claimed that it's the best sounding drum they've ever heard. If you are familiar with this model then I don't have to sell you on it. You can hear it being played in the 2012 Snare Drum Olympics in the video above. All parts are original and in good shape except for the heads and snare wires - and the original piccolo throw off was replaced with a later model Ludwig p83 throw off by a former owner. The original holes for the piccolo throw are underneath the p83 and there are two other extra holes in the throw off area - 4 extra holes total. A replacement piccolo strainer should not be too hard to find. The drum is in round. The polished nickel is still very shiny. The only tarnish is on the original hoop clips and the butt plate for the snares. There are some very minor dings and scratches in the shell, so minor that they are hard to see in photos. I am basing the price on prior sales of mine and others that reached $1750. I am subtracting $250 for the extra holes and the wrong throw off. I will consider any reasonable offer. Lowball offers will not be responded to. I will include a hard case. Shipping is just an estimate. Buyer pays exact shipping and full insurance. The picture was taken in my house on a light table. Not doctored.
