This Ayotte Keplinger 6.5" x 14" stainless steel snare is from the drum and cymbal collection of John Dittrich, drummer for Restless Heart, which has been consigned to DrumSellers. The snare drumhead is signed by John and comes with a provenance document. Because there is no auction function on DrumSellers, yet (coming soon), I am running this as an "email" auction. The $1500 price is what we are asking for the opening bid for this item. We will consider lower starting bids but drum will most likely go for $1500 because it is rare and John's signature adds a premium. Smallest incremental bid allowed is $50. To make a bid, please email george @notsomoderndrummer.com. The auction will end June 2 (yes, this is a SLOOOW auction) and all bidders will be notified for final bids before closing. Payment is cash, checks or money orders only. No digital payments on this one. We are doing it the old fashioned way. Shipping is additional and calculated for the buyer's address. SKB Hard vinyl cases and Beato Pro bags are available for $75 each. Item will be shipped after check clears the bank.
This rare, beast of a drum has a stainless steel shell made by Gregg Keplinger, and chromed steel hardware and wood hoops by Ray Ayotte. John used this drum on tours and on recordings. Condition; excellent +++. There are some "micro scratches" that are hard to see except under a close direct light, and there is wear on one spot of the batter hoop from cross stick or rim shots. These Ayotte hoops can take a beating. I'm giving it a 9.75 out of 10. Snare wires, throw and butt plate and all other hardware are in excellent working condition and, of course, the drum sounds magnificent.
